Year 4

English, Maths and Guided Reading take place each day.  Other subjects such as Science, History, Geography, ICT, PSHE, Music, French, R.E., Art, Design and Technology are linked, wherever possible, to the topics: Romans, Extreme Earth and Chocolate. This also includes the Power of Reading project where much learning is linked through a text. In year 4 these texts are: The Iron Man; Varjak Paw and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  The Spring term also finds us preparing for a production – usually with an environmental theme – when each class writes an extra scene to add to the script.

Weekly home learning, recorded in your home learning logs, will consist of one task, usually English or Maths. However, they could sometimes be other areas of the curriculum but will always aim to extend or consolidate learning. All of you are expected to read a few pages each night, preferably with your parents/carers and are asked to keep a record in the reading record books. As a school we award certificates for those of you who practise your reading daily.

During the spring in Year 4, many of you will be able to take part in a trip weekend to Frylands - an exciting opportunity! see extracurricular page for more details.
